Job Title: Data and Research Assistant

Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 plus 10% pension contribution (pro rata if part-time)

Job Type: Permanent full-time (part-time considered)

Hours: 37.5 per week (part-time hours may be considered)

Reporting to: Researcher 

Location: Home working (with access to Oxon/Bucks/Herts for team meetings)

About the role

In this new role, we are looking for a new team member to focus on our data-related projects. The role involves the collection and analysis of information to enhance our prospect research and wealth screening database. It will involve working with large data sets and also more detailed bespoke desk research projects.

A key part of the role is working on client research projects, particularly those involving analysis of data sets as well as other types of research and analysis. 

The job is home working, with weekly team meetings via video conference as well as daily interaction with other team members via email, telephone and video conferencing. We also have face-to-face team meetings from time to time. Face to face team meetings are usually in the Henley on Thames area. There will also be opportunities for face-to-face and virtual meetings with clients.  

You may also be asked to attend face-to-face training and induction sessions, again most likely in the Henley on Thames area.

Main responsibilities 

  1. Gather information from publicly accessible data sources about high-net-worth individuals, companies and grant-making trusts while exercising appropriate judgement about authenticity and reliability of sources.  
  1. Input, import, query and export data into and from the PFG database (currently Raisers Edge) in a timely, accurate, consistent manner and in line with PFG standard practices, procedures and protocols. 
  1. Assist with our client wealth screening work.
  2. Assist with data projects such as data cleaning, sourcing new data and preparing for a new database.
  1. Assisting with data projects related to our marketing database, Zoho.
  1. Assist in the development of systems and procedures to ensure data is used effectively and in a way that is compliant with data protection and other relevant statutory requirements. 
  1. Carry out any other duties as required.

Key requirements

  • Relevant experience in data and data management, including maintaining records, responding to queries and providing reports
  • Experience/understanding of relational databases, including querying using SQL
  • Experience working with medium/large data files
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while working under pressure 
  • Knowledge of standards for managing and protecting information, including information privacy, security and data protection principles 
  • Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database
  • Ability to communicate well and with confidence to a wide range of people both verbally and in writing 
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Excel
  • The ability to use initiative, multi-task and work as part of a team 
  • Excellent organisational skills 
  • An inquisitive mind and natural instinct for prospect/fundraising research and data.
  • Sensitivity and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
