We’re spotlighting five corporate partnerships supporting mental health causes in the UK.
Corporate partnerships are a great way for businesses to show their commitment to their communities by working alongside charities to raise awareness, provide funding and offer much-needed support. We’re looking at five UK businesses making a difference through their partnerships with mental health charities.
Lloyds Banking Group and Mental Health UK
Lloyds Banking Group was a corporate partner to Mental Health UK for six years. During that time, they raised a total of £16M for the cause and trained 2,800 colleagues as Mental Health Advocates.
The partnership enabled Mental Health UK to set up the first UK-wide service offering support for mental health and financial problems. Mental Health and Money Advice offers practical advice and support for people experiencing issues with mental health and money.
M&S & Young Minds
In October 2023, M&S launched a three-year corporate partnership with Young Minds with the ambition to raise £5M – enough to fund Young Minds’ services for a year. Since then, they’ve raised £2M and contributed to Young Minds, supporting over 530,000 young people in managing their mental health through easy-to-access information and advice. The funds have also helped support over 350,000 adults through the YoungMinds Parents’ Helpline, training for teachers & youth workers, and online information on the YoungMinds website.
M&S has also collaborated with The Doodle Boy on a collection of hoodies and jackets, with all profits going to Young Minds.
ITV & CALM
ITV has a continuing corporate partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) to help 1 million young people feel better able to cope with life’s ups and downs. So far, 13 million actions have been taken to support mental wellbeing thanks to ITV’s What Gets You Through campaign with CALM.
ITV also launched a Britain Get Talking mental wellness campaign to keep people connected and has invested over £100M of airtime in mental and physical health campaigns and content in the last five years.
PwC & Samaritans
PwC chose Samaritans as a charity partner in 2019. The corporate partnership aimed to raise £200,000, enough to train 500 volunteers a year. Employees raised money through events, volunteered their time, and donated money through payroll giving.
The team at PwC also helped pilot Samaritan’s Wellbeing in the City programme to support employees in improving their emotional wellbeing through online learning resources.
VO5 & The Mix
VO5 teamed up with The Mix to support young people’s wellbeing. VO5 donated funds and media for the charity’s digital-first services as well as the charity’s #STRONGER campaign, encouraging young people to share their own stories of strength and giving them access to mental health support.
VO5 is also partnered with The Brighton Rainbow Fund, a central hub for fundraising within the Brighton & Hove LGBTQ+ communities.
